The return of the gothic rockers
2010 is sure to be a big year for Tokio hotel... and their fans. The GErman group starts its European tour this month, and will be in Spain in April.
you don't have to speak German to be a fan of Tokio HOtel. But because of the group, more and more teenagers in Europe are learning German at school! With five million albums and DVDs sold in Germany, Tokio Hotel are one of the most popular GErman grops- especially in FRance.
YOung musicians
The group met first in 2001. They started playing music when they were wery young. Bill and Tom kaulityz, who are twins*, started playing guitar at the age of seven. By the time they were teenagers, they were playing in clubs, and georg listing and Gustav Schäfer had joined* them. At first they were called Devilish, but in 2003 they changed their name to Tokio HOtel.
Tokio in Love
"Tokio" is the German word for " tokyo": a city that the boys love. They added* "hotel" because they are always staying in hotels on * tour. Their music is a mix of differnet styles like pop pung, gothic rock and setimental ballads.
Bill says:" I believe in true* love, a love that you only find once in a lifetime...
I've already fallen* in love, but I still haven't found love with a big L".
Best group of 2009
The band has won* lots of awards, loke BESt Group at the Mtv Europe Awards in NOvember 2009. their new album, Humnoid, is a big hit. It exists in two versions: one in German and one in English. Bill Kaulitz explanied that the album has "many different parts and melodies". The singles Automatic is very catchy* and Wold Behing My Wall has been described as a "wistful * BAllad".
Legions of fans
But Tokio HOtel don't just make hit albums... they also perform great live * shows with special effects and fantastic costumes. Everywhere thye go they are met by screaming * fans. Their fourth tour, Humanoid city Tour, starts in Luxembourg this month and ends on 14 April with a concert at Paris Bercy. It's your chance to see a really cool show... in you can get tickets!
